There are few people in the world who have not heard of KamAZ trucks. They have earned the reputation of time-tested trucks and are used in a wide variety of applications. But there are a few more interesting models that only specialists have seen. More details about them are given later in the review.
1. KamAZ "Barkhan"

On the basis of the army KamAZ "Mustang" in 2006, a new car "Barkhan" was designed. From a distance, the car looks like a huge SUV, but if you get closer, the impression changes dramatically. "Barkhan" can accommodate up to 12 people, weighs 7 tons and at the same time has an impressive maneuverability.

The car is driven by the KamAZ-740 engine, which produces 240 hp. and a torque of 921 N ∙ m. Unfortunately, the unique car did not go into production.
2. KamAZ-Ajokki

Officially, this car is called KamAZ-Ajokki. It is a special body made by the Finnish company Ajokki and installed on the chassis of KamAZ. Such a complex machine fulfilled a difficult task: it served as a mobile television station. The car housed seats for a sound engineer, video director and engineer. All equipment works autonomously thanks to the diesel generator that was on board. Many of these machines, produced in the 1980s, are still used for their intended purpose.
3. KamAZ-5315M / 5415M

Back in the late 1980s, KamAZ engineers understood that the design of the car was very outdated. Even then, in Naberezhnye Chelny, several projects were developed to modernize the cab. One of the experimental KamAZ-5415M cars of 1988 received a DAF cab, European-type wheels, and a RABA rear axle. And the KAMAZ-5315M model was equipped with a Finnish Sisu cab and a "sloth" lifting rear axle.

4. KamAZ "Typhoon"

Prototypes of the KamAZ-63968 Typhoon military truck appeared in 2011 and are now supplied to the Russian armed forces. The four-wheel drive vehicle is designed to carry 16 soldiers. The vehicle is armored with ceramic panels and special glasses. They protect the crew from 14.5 mm armor-piercing bullets and the explosion of land mines right under the bottom and wheels of the car.

Thanks to its powerful 450-horsepower diesel engine, the 21-ton Typhoon has a top speed of 105 km / h. The main feature of the car is the independent hydropneumatic suspension.
5. Rally KamAZ

Truck racing enthusiasts cannot ignore the famous Dakar and Silk Way races. Many times our KamAZ trucks have won them, which from year to year amaze both specialists and competitors. These cars are built in small series and really amaze with their characteristics.

The engine power of the latest rally KamAZ models reaches up to 980 hp, and the torque - up to 4000 N ∙ m. However, it is hard to believe that these 9-ton vehicles can travel at 163 km / h on almost any surface.
And more recently, an interesting project of a conceptual KamAZ was presented. It is not yet built in metal, but has already caused heated debate.
