Bureau of Architecture 05AM Arquitectura received an order to carry out the reconstruction of a 19th century house Maison a Colombageslocated in the suburbs of Paris (France). The owners of the house wanted the architects to adapt the interior space to modern realities, without losing the charm of the last century.

The specialists did a lot of work fulfilling the order. A lot of alcoves (recesses), moldings, fireplaces were dismantled, which divided the space into small, poorly lit rooms.

But the architects did not remove everything: some niches (where it is appropriate for the project) were left. The living room was combined with the kitchen and dining room. Some recesses were filled with built-in wardrobes. The window frames are in the same style as 150 years ago.
