Regularly spending money on suspension diagnostics is far from what even the most responsible and caring motorist wants to do. However, what if the suspension has already begun to make suspicious noises. In such a situation, you can go a fundamentally different way and try to find the fault yourself. Fortunately, doing this is not so difficult, at least if you understand where to look and what to do, at least approximately.

The main purpose of diagnostics is to find a faulty part and replace it with a new one in a timely manner. When it comes to suspension, the first step is to check the condition of the tie rod end. To do this, raise the vehicle so that the wheel does not touch the ground. After that, it must be gently shaken, applying force to the point "9 o'clock" and "3 o'clock". Such an action will allow you to feel the backlash (if any). After that, with one hand, the wheel sways in the same plane, and the other hand is laid behind it so that it touches the very tips. If there is a gap between it and the steering knuckle, then the source of the problem has been found.

It may happen that there is a backlash, but the gap cannot be detected. In this case, it is highly likely that the problems actually lie in the ball joint. The check is performed in exactly the same way as described above. The only difference is that the hand should be applied at the moment of rotation of the wheel not to the tip, but to the ball joint. It is easy to determine the problem - there is still the same gap, then the problem is in it.
