In the south-west of Algeria, not far from the city of Tindouf, not quite ordinary houses appeared. From the outside, they look the same as other dwellings, but they are not built of adobe or bricks, but of ordinary plastic bottles. The guy who builds them claims that his houses have much more advantages than neighboring buildings.

Tateh Lehbib Breica, 27, builds homes from discarded plastic bottles in Algeria. The guy claims that such dwellings are much more resistant to extreme climatic conditions in the Sahara Desert region.

The technology for building houses is very simple. Sand is poured into plastic bottles, and then they are fastened together with concrete mortar. Considering the fact that in 2015, after prolonged downpours, many buildings were destroyed, the houses made of plastic bottles are waterproof. In addition, the thick walls and circular shape help bottle houses withstand sandstorms much better than adobe houses.

To date, Tateh Lehbib Break has already built 25 houses and is not going to stop there.

On one of the tiny islands near Panama is a village in which all the houses are also made of plastic bottles. The construction technology is quite simple: empty bottles are stacked in interconnected wire nets, and then placed in steel frames.
