Probably everyone noticed that at McDonald's, as in many other fast foods around the world, a very interesting spoon is placed in a glass of ice cream. There is nothing special about it, but the handle here is very unusual. It is she who always raises a lot of questions.

There are a lot of theories why this device looks like this, and each one has its own. The most common assumption is that the hollow handle is meant to be filled with something. Some users put forward the version that it can be filled with ice and it will remain chilled for a long time. Someone decided that an empty pen, on the contrary, would not cool down, which means that it would be more convenient and comfortable to use it.

According to other versions, through this void, cafe or restaurant workers fall asleep fillers, chocolate or caramel chips, nuts and other products. Another guess is that a hole in the handle is needed to accommodate a straw. An incredible assumption, since ice cream cannot be eaten through a straw.

There are also users who try to explain the phenomenon with a spoon from the technical side of the issue. The unusual shape and design make the handle stiffer and more practical. That is, during its intended use, the risk that it will be broken is excluded.

In reality, everything is much more prosaic and simpler. Hypotheses are put forward for one single reason - we are completely unfamiliar with the technology of preparing this dessert and the operation of the machines used. Well, if you look at how it works, and even delve into it, then everything becomes clear. The whole procedure is completely mechanized and it is for this purpose that the object we have described was invented.

The employee's mechanism of action:
- squeeze a portion of ice cream into a glass (here it is soft);

As a result, we see that a spoon with a square hollow handle is only required to be attached to the machine mixing all the ingredients. This will not work with a standard spoon. Well, they leave it because it is quite suitable for its intended use and there is no sense in replacing it at all.
Of course, it's a shame for the very interesting versions regarding the device, but nothing can be done about it. Indeed, in the same McDonald's, everything is thought out for the little things and has its own clear purpose.
No less interesting the history of the creation of the Eskimo ice cream, which was adored by both adults and children in the USSR.
