Australian architect Clare Cousins came up with a successful guest addition to the one-story beachfront home without having to rebuild the old building. The annex is a spacious pavilion of 48 square meters, consisting of a living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom.

Clara Cousins' order was for an additional living room and bedroom in a one-story beach house. As a result, instead of demolishing or reconstructing the existing building, it was decided to attach a guest house.

The house and pavilion are perfect for recreation and entertainment for one couple or several families. The attached wing was raised one floor higher than the main house, and received a covered parking for two cars under it.

The transition connecting the two wings is sheathed in translucent polycarbonate. At night, the staircase is illuminated, acting as a kind of beacon for those who drive up to the house.

The annex in the center houses a living room and kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom in the south wing. The balcony is so spacious that it can be used as a dining area. The total area of the new wing is 48 square meters.

The material chosen for construction has minimal insulating properties, practically not protecting the residents from such external factors as temperature and light. This is the main difference between the old house and the pavilion.
