Specialists from the Polish architectural studio Deep Ocean Technology (DOT) developed a project for an underwater hotel Water discus, the lower part of which is submerged 10 meters below sea level.
The large-scale project, which is planned to be implemented in Dubai (UAE), includes the development of underwater vehicles and equipment for marine research.
The hotel will consist of two main discs, one of which is located above the water and the other below its surface. The parts are interconnected by five columns and a central vertical shaft for stairs and an elevator.
The lower disc includes 21 comfortable rooms with underwater views, an underwater diving center and a bar. The upper disc will be used as a floating life raft in case of an emergency or flood.
The diving center is accessible through an underwater lock leading divers directly into the ocean. The center is equipped with a decompression chamber for training purposes. Here guests of the hotel can take a training course in piloting an underwater vehicle.
The modular structure of the hotel will allow it to be expanded in the future and even relocated to a new location. Water Discus will not be the first underwater hotel in the world - similar establishments have already opened in Florida and the Maldives. However, the hotel in Dubai will be the largest in the world.
