Double-decker buses will surprise no one for a long time. They have been a symbol of London for several decades. But both floors in these English buses are intended for transporting people. But the Spanish engineers Rodrigo Cruz and Guilherme Soares came up with the idea double-decker bus called E-Bus, where the upper floor is for a person and the lower one is for a car. And this is just one of the ideas of their large-scale project called E-road.
In the last decade, cars have become such an affordable and widespread form of transport that their number in many cities of the world significantly exceeds the capacity of the roads of these cities. Therefore, more and more new projects appear on how to organize the transport system of megalopolises in the future. For example, the Chinese project of a bus with a car tunnel or the Spanish project E-Road, which is a whole complex of extraordinary ideas.
Messrs. Cruz and Suarez are proposing three related projects within a single complex called E-Road. Firstly, these are the new two-story E-Station stops, designed for better pick-up and drop-off of passengers, as well as innovative traffic management. These stops will be completely covered. The doors in them will open only at the moment when a bus arrives at the station. Well, the lower floor of these stops is not intended for people, but for cars. What for?
And then, the E-Station double-decker stops will serve exclusively E-Bus double-decker buses, in which the upper floor is for people and the lower one is for cars. Cars in such a bus will create less stress on the streets of the city, which will allow them to move faster on it, as well as significantly save resources.
Well, the third component of the E-Road project is special cars with an electric motor. They will be smaller than usual (designed for only two people). This will allow them to easily get obsessed on the lower floor of the E-Bus buses. In addition, while traveling by bus, these cars can be charged by connecting to special sockets designed specifically for this purpose.
