Danish architect Julien de Smedt won the Holmenkollen springboard design competition last fall. As you know, this suburb of Oslo (Norway) is famous for its ski slopes, annual biathlon competitions, cross-country skiing and ski jumping. And de Schmedt he is authorized to build the springboard as well as the stadium itself for the 2011 World Ski Championships.
The springboard will be located in the northern part of Oslo, on the same slope as the previous one, built in 1892. The springboard has a fairly standard shape, but the project is certainly impressive. Hopefully, the final result will be no worse than on paper.
An observation deck is also planned for athletes and tourists who can climb the springboard on an inclined lift.
Considering the Scandinavians' great love for winter sports, I think that a sufficient number of people will visit the springboard. And of course, everything must be arranged according to the highest standard.
