These foreigners are so funny! For what seems common to us, Russian savages, they give out the first prizes at various exhibitions. For example, such a fate befell "Towel with further options", invented by NIIMI (Takuya Niimi / Yuki Niimi).
The idea of the invention is as follows: ordinary towels deteriorate over time from frequent use, numerous washes and heels of their owner, the fabric becomes not so pleasant to the touch, absorbs water worse, and so on. The prize-winning towel is no exception, but the designer suggests using a worn-out or simply worn-out towel in everyday life and beyond. The lines that divide the towel into rectangles are not only for beauty: when the time comes, its owner will arm himself with scissors and cut the towel along the lines into rags for the floor, rags for dusting, rags for the kitchen table, and so on.
Many of us, I dare to assume, are painfully familiar with this process. However, for its simplicity and fresh idea "Towel with options" received "gold" at the exhibition The MUJI Award 02 in Japan. The exhibition ended just a few days ago and was devoted to the theme "RE", that is, redesign, alteration of everything familiar.
