Everyone knows that through the centuries, the native Fatherland is haunted by two troubles at once. The second one is roads. Perhaps this is why the modern Russian and Soviet car industry had the best relationship with the development of all-terrain vehicles. Not only factory designers, but also self-taught engineers manage to make good-quality vehicles with increased cross-country ability in Russia. Some of these have just created, perhaps, the best domestic all-terrain vehicle at the moment - "Sherpa".

At the end of the first decade of the 21st century, the product of the female designer from St. Petersburg Alexei Garagashyan gained immense popularity. The engineer creates an all-terrain vehicle with a steel monocoque body and on huge wheels with a diameter of 160 cm. Thanks to this, the all-terrain vehicle feels extremely confident on any problematic terrain: mud, snow, rut, sand - the machine is able to cope with any task and any obstacle. The homemade product easily storms obstacles up to 70 cm high, and also knows how to swim thanks to the protectors that can function as rowing brushes.

Needless to say, the all-terrain vehicle has a strictly full drive - 4x4. This miracle of technology is controlled by a pair of levers and a pair of pedals. Diesel inline 4-cylinder engine from the Japanese manufacturer "Kubota" with a working volume of 1.4 liters produces 44.2 hp at 3,000 rpm. The unit works together with a 5-speed manual transmission. The all-terrain vehicle has a 2-door station wagon, dimensions of 3.4x2.5x2.5 meters and a ground clearance of 600 mm. With a mass of 1.3 tons, it can take on another 1 ton. The maximum speed of Garagashyan's creation is 39 km / h on land and 6 km / h on water.

Real fame for the all-terrain vehicle came in the 2010s. One of the cars was bought by businessman Aleksey Shkolnik, who later organized a design bureau in Kiev to improve the existing design. The car was named "Sherpa" and in 2012, in a modified form, went into small-scale production. All-terrain vehicles were assembled in St. Petersburg. In 2015, Sherpa became the most interesting guest of the Moscow Off-Road Show, and already in 2016 it got into the British Top Gear show. As a result, today, in addition to individuals, the creation of Garaganyan and Shkolnik is used by such state structures as the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine.
