The Polish veterinarian was so imbued with the plight of abandoned dogs that he decided to build comfortable houses for four-legged friends. It took the enthusiast and volunteers 2 years for a small village with colorful comfortable houses to appear in an open field, which has comfortable sofas, warm floors and even air conditioners with the Internet, and people can come to the rescue at any time.
Anyone who has seen dog shelters knows the creepy conditions in which animals are usually kept. Overcrowded enclosures with concrete floors and lattice partitions, bedding made of straw or old rags, constant barking, squealing and howling, an eerie smell and other "joys" of a dog's life. Fortunately, there are other shelters for homeless animals, with better furnishings and living conditions than in some people's apartments.
Interesting fact: The caring veterinarian Radoslaw Fedaczynski has created an amazing shelter. This idea arose during the period when he worked in the nursery of the hospital "Ada", where the Animal Rehabilitation Center was located. It was then that he, together with like-minded people, began to raise funds for the improvement of the territory allocated near Przemysl (Przemysl), which is in the southeast of Poland. it was there that they decided to build the "Dog Village".
Why Dog Village? I dreamed of a place where dogs would not sit in boxes on concrete floors or in cages with rotting boards. I wanted them to feel at home, and every volunteer or potential host could spend the day with them,”explains Radoslaw Fedaczynski.
The site was located almost a kilometer from the main road and was buried in mud, so they started from scratch. Thanks to caring people, they managed to build a road, assembled several colorful houses, and brought communications. At the moment, 7 houses are fully equipped, which have everything you need for the comfort and safety of dogs that have suffered through their short life. Warm floors, soft sofas, armchairs, carpets, couches, and even an air conditioner that turns on automatically if the temperature rises outside.
Each house is connected to the Internet for video surveillance of the pets. Direct participation of people is not excluded. Professional "educators" and volunteers are on duty around the clock in the village, trying to surround the pets with attention and warmth, patiently and lovingly teach them to live in the Village and teach them that the human hand does not want to hit them, but take them for a walk or stroke them.
“We want to rehabilitate dogs and heal their souls so that when they get into a new home, they understand that the sofa is used for sleeping and rest, and not for chewing on it. And physiological needs need to be celebrated on the street, not on the carpet. And most importantly, you can be a happy dog, even living in a dormitory. Especially old and sick animals are taken care of, they will be able to spend the autumn of their life there,”says Radoslaw.
I am glad that the veterinarian and the staff of the center do not stop there, they try to provide a home environment for adult dogs and puppies who find themselves on the street, carry out prevention and socialization of animals. According to Novate.ru, they plan to expand their village to at least 40 houses. In the meantime, volunteers are posting on social networks, trying to find loving owners for dogs and continue to raise funds for construction.
