Caring for houseplants is a painstaking process, where each “inhabitant” needs its own approach. Many are accustomed to watering the flowers once a week and replanting from time to time. However, this is not enough. If you irrigate the plants incorrectly, they will wither and die. Novate.ru will tell you what mistakes should not be made in watering.
1. Irrigate at the same frequency all year round

If you keep the temperature around the same in all seasons in your home, this does not mean that the flowers need to be irrigated with the same regularity. The biological rhythm of plants changes throughout the year. They are actively developing, bloom in summer and spring, so they require more moisture. In autumn and winter, the processes slow down, so less water is needed.
Learn how to properly care for each houseplant. Some flowers hibernate with the first cold, so the frequency of watering must be reduced, otherwise the roots will begin to rot. Others prefer cooler conditions, while others are active all year round.
2. Adhere to a strict watering schedule

For convenience and to save time, many people try to water the flowers at the same time. For example, once a week during Sunday cleaning or every other day or two. However, each plant has an individual need for water. Also, this is affected by the proximity to heating devices, humidity in the room and even the color of the pot. For example, if a flower in a dark pot stands in the sun, it will have to be watered more often.
First of all, study the watering rules for specific flowers and follow them. Secondly, pay attention to the appearance of the household “inhabitants”. If the leaves have lost their elasticity and began to fall, water more often. Is the top dry and crusty? Don't wait for the day to water, but moisten the soil now. The only exception is succulents. They accumulate water in thick stems and thrive even during a monthly drought.
3. Irrigate exclusively from above

A simple, and therefore popular, irrigation option is the top one. The soil is irrigated from a watering can, a bottle, a mug, and along the way, water is sprayed on the leaves. Further, the liquid flows into the pan, and its residues are drained. However, this watering option is undesirable for flowers with fleecy or dull waxy leaves. Among them: coleus, violet, begonia, geranium, different types of succulents, gloxinia.
In this case, you need to adhere to the lower watering option. To do this, pour the liquid into the pan, and the plant itself will absorb the required amount of moisture. The main thing is that there are enough drainage holes in the pot, and the soil can come into contact with water.
4. Do not drain the liquid from the pallet

Someone prefers to pour more water into the pan and leave. Supposedly, a houseplant will absorb all the moisture as needed and will not have to be watered often. In fact, stagnant fluid provokes root rot, the development of mold and mildew. The plant should absorb exactly as much as it needs, and not convenient for the owner.
You can literally leave the liquid for 15-20 minutes. During this time, the soil will just have time to moisten. The surplus must be drained and the container cleaned. In extreme cases, the water can not be removed for a couple of days. But only on condition that you need to leave, and without moisture, the plant can dry out quickly. Doing this is permissible only in rare cases, and not on an ongoing basis.
5. Sprinkle with cool tap water

In addition to the frequency of humidification, the quality of water also plays a role: its composition and temperature. It is highly undesirable to irrigate household “inhabitants” with a running cool liquid. Of course, there are unpretentious flowers, but they will be much better with high-quality water.
Water the flowers with liquid at room temperature. Wait a couple of days beforehand for the liquid to settle, and all unfavorable elements are at the bottom. If there is a filter, irrigate the flowers with purified water only.
