The cortege of the president of the country is a whole system of transport of various kinds. It goes without saying that it is one of the most tested and safest cars and motorcycles. Perhaps that is why domestic designers undertook to develop a special motorcycle within the framework of a corresponding project. And although the name of the two-wheeled car “IZH-Kortezh”, it was designed by the concern “Kalashnikov”.
The history of this motorcycle began back in 2012, when it was announced the start of the development of the "Cortege" project, within the framework of which vehicles were created to accompany the Russian president and members of the government. In particular, the project involved the creation of a limousine and a motorcycle. The design of the latter, called IZH-Cortege, was carried out by the specialists of the Kalashnikov concern, but they were to be assembled on the basis of the IZH plant.
The first demonstration of the new motorcycle was held in 2017, which, in particular, was personally attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Only, at this presentation, only an experienced life-size model was presented - at that time the model was not yet finished and could not move independently. However, it took only a month for the final revisions, after which the IZH-Cortege was sent to the first tests on the Formula 1 track located in Sochi.
But in the issue of its availability there was no clear certainty for some time. So, initially it was stated that "IZH-Cortezh" will be produced exclusively for the needs of the FSO. However, by the end of its development, during a press conference, it was already assumed that the motorcycle could still be bought by an ordinary consumer. True, the cost of a domestic bike turned out to be far from the most affordable - about four million rubles.
The technical characteristics of the IZH-Kortezh are also impressive. For example, its weight is more than 500 kilograms, and all because of the presence of huge armor plates on the body of the vehicle. At the same time, such a mass does not at all prevent the bike from accelerating to 100 km / h in just four seconds. The maximum speed of the motorcycle is 250 km / h - a promising figure for a car weighing half a ton.
However, there were also some drawbacks. First, ordinary people often criticize the design of a motorcycle for the president's motorcade, calling it morally outdated. In addition, IZH-Kortezh, due to its booking and its large weight, is also difficult to manage: according to the Novate.ru editorial office, the opinion of experts boils down to the fact that not everyone can curb this domestic bike. Therefore, it is rather difficult to predict the future of a motorcycle outside the state order for the FSO.
