Sink clogging in the kitchen or bathroom is not such a rare occurrence; shops sell many different special chemicals for every taste and wallet. Many of them deal with the problem quite effectively. But it so happens that there is no time to run to the store, it’s late in the evening, or you just don’t want to. In such situations, a self-made pipe cleaner is suitable.
1. The principle of operation of means intended for cleaning sewer systems

As a rule, each such product is based on a highly concentrated alkali. In many of them, sodium hydroxide acts as an active substance, corroding accumulated fats, food debris and other organic matter, which gradually accumulates in the pipes. The product made from soda will have almost identical PH with the purchased products - from 10, 5 to 11, 5 units.

2. Method of preparation

There is absolutely nothing complicated here, however, it will take a little time. To prepare the solution, baking soda is required in the amount of seven to eight tablespoons only with a good slide (two hundred grams). It is poured into the pan and ignited on the fire for fifteen minutes. You can make it easier - put it in the oven for this time, heated to 200 degrees. After calcining, the soda must be allowed to cool - this is another ten to fifteen minutes. The finished powder dissolves completely in water (250 ml). It remains to pour the solution into the drain and leave for an hour or two, and then spill the pipe with water. That's it - the problem is solved.

Important! When you heat the baking soda, open a window in the kitchen or turn on the hood. The room must be well ventilated. During the heating process, soda gives off carbon dioxide. Its amount is small, so it is not dangerous for life, but a headache can hurt.
3. Principle of operation

Soda initially has an alkaline reaction, but after the heating procedure, the reaction is significantly enhanced. Which allows her to deal with the blockage. Since when heated at a temperature of 60 degrees (ideally 200) and above, soda breaks down into carbon dioxide, water and sodium carbonate, the result is soda ash in its pure form (the same sodium carbonate). Its PH is 10, 5-11, 5 units, as in many store products for removing blockages. Therefore, this tool will cope with the task no worse than the purchased ones.
